What is Hydrocephalus?

Hydrocephalus is a condition in which Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) cannot escape the cranial cavity because the exit is blocked. This causes an increase in ICP (Intra Cranial Pressure), which can be deadly if left untreated.

However, as long as treatment is rapid and done correctly, ill effects can be minimized and are easier to treat.

How is it treated?

Currently, only surgery is the effective method used to regulate and treat hydrocephalus.

There is an initiative from the Hydrocephalus Association (HA) called #NoMoreBS to raise awareness of the surgeries needed to treat hydrocephalus and to find a better cure for the millions of people worldwide with hydrocephalus.
