Hydrocephalus & Summer Camps

Hi everyone,

It's been a while since my last personal post. It's pretty close to the middle of the school year, and summer planning is well underway. There are many things to worry about. Should my child enroll in summer school? Is that camp worth it? What about this one?

Having hydrocephalus makes this a bit harder. You want to make sure that your child is receiving any and all medical care they need when you're not there. Two summer camps that I have attended this past summer provide that reassurance to parents and give the kids a great time!

First, Camp HeadStrong (2020 dates: August 9-13 2020) is a summer camp for children exclusively with hydrocephalus. I attended the camp in 2019 and I am looking forward to apply again this year. From the website, "Camp Head Strong

A Fun, Supportive, and Empowering Environment for Children and Teens with Hydrocephalus

For Ages: 10-17 Duration: 5 days/4 nights Dates: August 9 - 13, 2020"

More information can be found on the camp website (https://www.brainycamps.com/camps/hydrocephalus.html)

Camp HeadStrong, including my bunkmates Taylor and Elizabeth and our counselor Molly (who also has hydrocephalus!) was an absolutely amazing experience. I highly recommend the camp to everyone.
