This Past Summer

This past summer has been a whirlwind of activity and pride behind the scenes. I had the pleasure and privilege of attending the Hydrocephalus Association 2020 Virtual Conference in late June. Meeting so many others with hydrocephalus is something truly special.

In late July, I was a CIT (Counselor-In-Training) at Camp Head Strong, a camp held by Brainy Camps and Children's National, a hospital in Washington D.C. for children with hydrocephalus. The experience was incredibly eye-opening and reminded me of how strong our community bond is.

Additionally, it's been 7 years since my last shunt issue. I'm so proud and grateful for my doctors, without whom I would not be here today. Without them, I also would not have had the drive and inspiration to become a Gold Award Girl Scout (the highest award a Scout can earn).

I would now like to share a joint project myself and some fellow campers and conference attendees started. @hydro.life.kidz is an account we started on Instagram to share our perspectives as teens and young adults living with hydrocephalus. Give it a follow or like!
